2. Pick out the image you want to use for an icon, if your image is too big just crop it, or you can resize it to fit your 100x100 pixel image. Copy and paste that image into the 100x100 image that you just opened.
3. Go to File- Jasc Software Products – Animation shop
4. Now in PSP (Paint Shop Pro) copy the image to your clipboard by using (right click-copy) then right click past as a new image in animation shop.
5. Now for the scratch effect. In the animation shop program go to - Effects-Insert Image Effect.
6. Here is your area where you can choose from numerous effects, the effects I choose are scratches – effect length 2.4 seconds – frames per second – 3fps.
7. Go to ok.
8. You now have your animation, now to save it. Go to file - Save as and a window should appear that asks you to name your file and the place you want to save it in. Choose the name and place that fits your needs and press save.
9. You are now taken to the gif optimizer program. This is where you choose the file size and quality of your icon. For the icon I am working on I choose the very top bar for highest quality and push next. I push next again and it takes me to a preview, if you like the preview save it, if not start over until you get the result you feel is fit for your icon. Every icon is different.
Tip: On the optimizing customize button my settings are:
Colors tab = 255 colors – optimized Octree – error diffusion
Optimizations tab = write minimal frames checked – Collapse Identical Frames checked – Map Identical pixels to transparent checked – all others unchecked.
